ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hi! My name is Jillyan Canaveral and I am a 18 year old artist. I am currently a first year mechanical engineering major at the University of California, Irvine and have been a part of the visual arts community all my life.

I started my art career in kindergarten, when I first started taking art classes at school. I fell in love and continued my participation through 8th grade, with additional art classes outside of school. I decided to continue my career throughout high school by taking a Drawing course. I then challenged myself with the more rigorous Advanced Drawing Honors, Visual Arts IB HL2, and AP Drawing.To expand my passions beyond the walls of the classroom, I joined the National Arts Honors Society and my work has been exhibited in the visual arts showcase- two of which were nominated for the highly prestigious Permanent Art Gallery. Furthermore, I have been able to contribute my talents to the schools' performing arts program by accepting the opportunity to design and create the set for the musical, The Fantasticks, as the lead set designer.
